“I've never really fully understood relationships. You love someone but they don't love you. Or you both love each other, just not enough. Or, in the case of my most recent relationship, you love each other, but you're not right for each other. Don't get me wrong, Hannah was great! She was very kind, smart, beautiful. But we really just didn't work well together. We didn't fight, I'm not sure why it didn't work, it just didn't. We both decided it was better that we see different people. We said goodbye, and that was that. To be honest, I really didn't cry or anything. I just went home and went to bed. The next morning, I went for a run.”

“I've been going for runs just about every day since. It's really helped. I put on my headphones, step outside, and run. I don't run too fast, only at a leisurely pace as to not get tired too quickly. I like my morning runs. One thing of note is that I dwell on some important thoughts during my runs. For a while it was mh relationship with Hannah. Then it was my sexuality in general. But recently, it's been about my best friend Elwood. Elwood has always seemed down, like he has something he's been thinking about for a while. But recently, it has seemed a bit more apparent. Like someone said something hurtful or something like that. I hope he's doing alright.”

“I decided it's about time I get up for the day. I find my headphones and phone, put on some shorts, and head out for today's run. I normally shower after my morning runs as to not be sweaty all day. Today's run is going great. It's nice out, I've got a good pace going, and my favorite songs are playing. The only thing I don't like is the fact that Elwood hasn't been himself for a while. Elwood has been really cooped up in his apartment for a while, it's worrying. I'm sure he's just tired from work, he works a lot.”

“I return home a half-hour later. I don't work today, which kind of sucks. I've been trying to get more hours lately since working also helps to clear my head. After a shower, I decide to cook up some breakfast. Today is just some eggs and bacon. After eating and scrolling on my phone, I figure that some video games could pass the time. I start to play some single player games for a couple hours before taking a break to eat lunch. My phone is dead by now so I put it on the charger before making a sandwich. I start to think about my friends as I eat. Samantha, Johnny, Mary, Gabe. But whats weird is that I mostly think about Elwood and how down he's seemed lately.”

“I shake the thought, reassuring myself that he's got it handled, whatever it is. Elwood is a smart guy, and he has a good heart too. I finish my sandwich and return to playing video games. I like video games usually but today seems off. Im not really having as much fun as usual. The thought is interrupted by a text from Gabe. It reads, "Yo you wanna go out tonight?" I think for a short moment, then reply, "sure! where are we going?"”
